Meet our Team
VHVH is proud of the services that we are able to provide for your pet. We offer veterinary medicine, diagnostic, surgical and radiology services. We also offer grooming, training and boarding/daycare services. The reason we can offer all of these services for your pet is because of the team that represents Vintage Heights Veterinary Hospital.
James Himmelberg, DVM
Hi there! I am more commonly known as "Dr. Jim". I grew up in Omaha and earned my Bachelors Degree at Creighton University. In 1986, I graduated from the Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine. My family has lived in Lincoln since 1993 and I was previously employed at Belmont Veterinary Center. After several years of planning and hard work, in June 2009, Vintage Heights Veterinary Hospital opened. I have two sons and my wife Kebbelin works for Lincoln Public Schools. I especially enjoy surgery, internal medicine and dermatology. Willow and Charlie are our Golden Retrievers and Heaton is our Golden Retriever mix. We also have two cats, Sox and Smokey-they were all rescued! Willow accompanies me to work and she "smiles" when greeting visitors at the clinic. Stop in and we will both smile for you!
Kylie Wiedel, DVM
Hi, I'm Dr. Wiedel! I am a class of 2012 graduate from Iowa State University and an associate veterinarian at VHVH. I've been working as a small animal veterinarian since graduation and have been employed in the field for 13 years. My career interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, and dermatology.
I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association, and Nebraska Academy of Veterinary Medicine.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, John, and our two dogs, Buddy and Macy, as well as our cat, Bo. In my free time, I like to cycle, garden, and cook.
Candace, Practice Manager
Hi there, I'm Candace! I grew up surrounded by animals between farm life as a child and animal family members throughout. They really are the best listeners! I have a wonderful husband, Adam who supports my love for animals, and two great kids, Isaiah and Jovi. Our rescued fur-kids are Sully, an english pointer mix and Starfox and long-haired chihuahua. You may spot them roaming the clinic!
I worked with Dr. Jim for a few years prior to him opening Vintage Heights and always admired his passion and knowledge in animal care. After 11 years in the Veterinary industry, I joined his team at Vintage Heights to continue my journey. I love working alongside him and Dr. Wiedel and I am so proud of our team. We provide excellent animal care from medicine, education, grooming, boarding, training and so much more. I have every intention of ensuring that our passion remains fluent as we continue to grow and that every patient receives the best care we can provide.
I have been a technician for 10 years. Wow, where did that 10 years go?! I have learned so much over that time. I started my career out working nights at Veterinary Emergency Services. I loved everything about it, except the 3rd shift hours. I made the transition to a day practice almost 5 years ago. I have loved it so far. I feel that working both emergency and day practice medicine has made me a stronger technician each and every day.
Valerie graduated from Omaha College of Health Careers in 1998 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology.
After becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician, she worked part time in a small animal practice in Lincoln. In 2005 she joined Veterinary Emergency Services as a full time LVT. We are fortunate to have her part of our team at Vintage Heights too!
Kevin is a Licensed Veterinary Technician. He received his Associate Degree in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in 1997. Kevin is also a full-time Veterinary Technician at the Veterinary Emergency Services of Lincoln. Kevin and his wife, Barb have two children, twins Jerika and Elijah. Their family wouldn't be complete without their dogs, Scuba and Romie. In his free time, Kevin enjoys scuba diving and reading.
Hi there! Born and raised in Kearney Nebraska, I grew up having lots of different pets! Dogs, cats, turtles, cattle, and sheep. I have been working with animals since I was 16 and graduated from NCTA in Curtis Nebraska in 2007 with an associates in Veterinary Technology. I recently moved back to Lincoln to go back to school and work at Vintage Heights!
Hi! I have been an LVT since 2009. I worked in clinic for 5 years and then did 6 years of pet sitting after that. I then made my way to Vintage Heights as a part time LVT.
A few fun facts about me:

- I am also a medical transcriptionist
- In addition, I am a co-director/co-owner/qualified teacher of a early childhood development center
-I am married to my husband, Ben and we have a daughter named Lexi and a son named Levi!
Hello! I have always loved animals and have known I wanted to work with them in some capacity. I grew up with two cats and a black lab, and now my husband and I have a golden-doodle of our own, named Scooter. I've been in the medical field since 2016 but worked in Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo for 2 summers and on a kennel staff for over a year and a half. I am an avid college football fan and always enjoy the marching bands, since I played in the UNL marching band while earning my Biology degree. I love putting my experiences into practice everyday to help take care of everyone's furry "children".
Hello, my name is Danielle! I have a husband named Marcus, and we have a very goofy coonhound mix, named Bandit. I grew up in Potter, a small town in Western Nebraska. Growing up in a small town, I was involved in everything possible from volleyball, basketball, track, choir, band, speech, cheerleading, and dance to 4-H showing market steers along with my horse, Daisy. I went to the University of Wyoming for 2 years and then transferred to UNL to finish my Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science with an emphasis in Biomedical Sciences. Animals have always been my passion in life. I have recently gotten Daisy to Lincoln, and there’s just something so freeing about riding wherever we want. Life is such a precious gift that always needs to be appreciated. I’ve recently lost my mother to Triple Negative Breast Cancer, so now I’m learning how to live life for her now that she’s not with me. I look forward to meeting you all!
Meghan, Technician Assistant / Client Care
Hello! My name is Meghan and I am a technician assistant and receptionist at Vintage Heights. I have been working in the veterinary field since 2010 when I started with walking dogs at age 14. Currently, I am attending classes working on a Bachelors of Science from UNL. I've been around animals my entire life! I grew up 30 miles outside of Lincoln on a small farm with lots of animals from hamsters, dogs, and cats to horses and cows, and even a few exotic birds like peacocks, crested mallards, and pheasants. Now I live in Lincoln and am down to two fur babies. My "kids" are Rikki, a 5 year old chihuahua, and Jingle Belle, and a 10 year old cat. Sometimes little miss Rikki-Tikki comes with me to work. She'll show you how exciting everything is in this place!
I started working for Dr. Jim back in 2011 as his receptionist and then in 2013, I moved into the grooming department where I taught myself how to groom dogs with DIY grooming books and videos and amazing clients to let me practice! I discovered I have a natural skill for styling pets. I have 13 years of experience in the vet world and absolutely LOVE what I do. You will see me at the reception desk taking care of clients, assisting the doctors, or in the groom room, styling away! I am a mother to a 7 year old Siberian Husky names Riggs and a black lab puppy named Cheyenne. They are my four legged kids that go everywhere with me and my fiance. We just wouldn't know what to do without them!
Mindy, Client Care
Hello! I have been a part of the Vintage Heights team since 2015. I love working with people and animals. My knowledge and experience comes from the Lincoln Children Zoo and the Jr. Zoo Crew program as well as the Nebraska Cornhusker Pony Club. I am currently a volunteer with Northern Plains Boxer Rescue. I work with dogs in helping them overcome behavioral problems and help seek out their furever family! My husband and I have two young girls, two boxers, a boston terrier, a bunny, two geckos, a painted turtle and a large fish tank filled with assorted fish, eels, and a frog! Needless to say, we love animals!
Melissa, Client Care / Assistant
Hello everyone! My name is Melissa or I am otherwise known as "Frank" (my nickname since childhood). And yes, feel free to call me either! If you visit Vintage Heights often, you might know my lovable golden retriever, Haven. Haven loves coming to work with me and meeting new people. I also have a border collie named Dixon and a cat named Bacardi.
I have been working at Vintage Heights since August of 2017. Prior to joining the staff here, I attended UNL and majored in Veterinary Science. I plan on applying to vet school this fall. I love working at Vintage Heights because it has helped to prepare me for my future as a DVM.
Erika, Certified Trainer / Kennel Manager
Hi there! I’m Erika and I have three children, two dogs, two Russian torts, two crested geckos, a bearded dragon, two fish tanks and a wonderful husband who supports all of us!
I grew up in a small town and was always surrounded by dogs. However, I never understood the value of a good diet and training until I started working at Petco 9 years ago. My true passion for all species of creatures began.
Five years ago, I became an animal manager and I LOVED it! I met so many different breeds of dogs! About two years ago, I pursued my passion and became a certified dog trainer.
Training stood out to me for many reasons, however the most exciting part for me is being able to connect new and longtime pet parents to their dogs-a forever bond. It truly saves lives!
I have had the opportunity to save lives of dogs set to be euthanized due to behavior but most concerns were broken down to fear. I taught owners consistency and routines. Together, we made happy dogs and happy owners!
I have joined Vintage Heights to expand my love of animals and continue my training. Needless to say, I have found my true calling in my work life and I enjoy every day of it!
